Murphy Labrador Retriever Puppy Male for sale in Phoenix, Arizona

Murphy's story
I would like to introduce Murphy, a one-year-old Yellow Lab Mix. Murphy is a smaller lab at approx. 50 pounds. He is house broken, can use a Doggie Door if needed and is also crate trained. He is being walked every day to get him used to being on a lead (not sure he was ever on one). He has not displayed any aggression towards people, other dogs or food. He has not been exposed to cats or small children so that is a bit of an unknown at this time. He loves to play with his foster brother (an 14 lb. Cavalier) and is gentle with him. He is a typical one year old in a lot of ways, lots of energy, curious about everything and will do some random chewing although this has not been a significant problem. Currently he sleeps in his crate and is crated when left alone for any length of time.
Murphy has had a tough first year and came into rescue from a bad situation. He is very timid, shy and fearful of being around new situations and people until he gets to know you and is comfortable. Murphy has some special needs that the new family needs to be aware of. First, Murphy has been diagnosed with a muscle disorder called Fibrotic Myopathy. Please do your own research but the Vet that diagnosed Murphy noted that Fibrotic Myopathy is a non-painful muscle disorder that has no known origin. He will walk differently but it does not seem to bother him. This should not affect his quality of life. You will see that he does have a bit of a different gait when walking but runs and plays with our Cavalier just fine and doesnt seem to bother him. He is not on any medication for this condition and now that he is one year old the condition should be stabilized and should not get any worse. Second, as mentioned Murphy is very timid and fearful, getting Murphy completely out of his shell will take a significant investment of Time, Patience and Love. Murphy is a wonderful dog just waiting for the right situation to flourish and become a welcomed addition to any family. We have noticed that Murphy is making progress everyday and now eagerly comes up to us for some love and attention. A dog behaviorist has evaluated Murphys fear issues. The behaviorist suggests that Murphy will need a permanent home with people who are patient and understanding of his issues and who are prepared to gently work with him, not rush him and realize that he may well always be shy and fearful.
There is a saying that goes like this Money can buy you a fine dog, but only love can make him wag his tail. Murphy has a lot of love to give to a new permanent family.
